Formerly known as Hideaway Village, The Town of Winter Park was officially incorporated in 1978.  Located at an altitude of approximately 8800 feet Winter Park Resort has long been a well kept secret.

Established in 1940, Winter Park Resort is owned by the City of Denver, and was established as a "winter park" for the citizens of Denver.

Today Winter Park plays host to one million skiers per year! While three great mountains, the highest average annual snowfall of any major Colorado resort and world class powder skiing are the major draw they are not the only reason to visit Winter Park. Non-skiers can enjoy snowmobile tours, cross-country skiing, showshoeing, dog sled rides and romantic dinner sleigh rides.
